The Grace House, Women’s Residential program offers a faith based program for transitional housing. This is a residential, 5 Phase program designed to equip each lady with the tools they need to establish them for future success, and for them to live a life free from drugs. We offer a safe and secure environment while they work towards goals specific to each womans needs. These include but are not limited to paying fines, obtaining a drivers license and completIng any court ordered classes, or probation.

About Chelsea

I was born and raised in Newport, Tennessee, where I graduated from Covenant Christian Academy in 2006. In 2007, I left for Army basic training and served in the Tennessee National Guard from 2007 to 2011, transitioning to the Army Reserve until around 2014. My journey through life has been marked by both challenges and triumphs, all of which have shaped who I am today.

In 2011, after a personal trauma, my life spiraled out of control, leading to prescription drug abuse. On October 3, 2011, I was arrested—a moment that also became my clean date. Between October and December of that year, I rededicated my life to the Lord and found freedom from addiction. In January 2012, I entered the City of Hope rehab program and, later that year, was sentenced to federal prison for a non-violent drug offense.

Prison became a turning point in my life. While there, I experienced a powerful move of God, being baptized in the Holy Ghost alone on the floor of my cell. I was released three years early in 2015 under the non-violent drug law reform. After three months in a halfway house in Chattanooga, I returned home to Newport, determined to build a new life.

From 2015 to 2019, I worked as the maintenance supply clerk at Koch Foods. In December 2019, I launched my own cleaning business, which I ran successfully while also working full-time with Perry Smith Development until the devastating flood that affected our community. That event became a catalyst for fulfilling a commitment I had made to God: to open a safe place for women seeking recovery.

On October 7, 2022, God made the way for me to establish The Grace House , a faith-based recovery home for women. Since opening, we’ve celebrated nine graduates with a 100% success rate. At The Grace House we recognize that recovery is about more than just achieving sobriety—it’s about preparing women for real-world success, equipping them with the tools they need to thrive beyond their time in the program.

Through the grace of God, hard work, and a heart for service, I’ve dedicated my life to helping others find hope and healing, just as I found it. My story is a testament to God’s faithfulness and the power of transformation.

Ruth Meadows, the name of the property where The Grace House 2 is located, and also the transitional phase of The Grace House program is designed to support women as they step into independence. Graduates of The Grace House will have the opportunity to move into tiny homes or campers, as space allows, providing them with an affordable and stable environment where they can save money for their future home and build a solid foundation for lasting success.

The name Ruth Meadows holds deep significance, not only as a tribute to the biblical Ruth—a woman of resilience, faith, and new beginnings—but also as a reflection of a cherished family legacy. The name Ruth has been carried through four generations of Donna’s Sallee’s family, representing strength, perseverance, and hope. Just as a meadow provides a place for growth and preparation, Ruth Meadows will serve as a peaceful transition space where women can prepare for their next season in life.

Because of Donna’s incredible act of generosity, we are expanding our program with a second Grace House location. This home will be named The Grace House 2, continuing our mission of providing a safe place for women to experience transformation, hope, and a fresh start.

Residential Program

Our vision is to provide our residents with excellent program services that allow them to recognize their self-worth and prepare them to reach their full potential by transitioning them from crisis to self-sufficiency.

Our Services

Residential Housing with a peaceful, nurturing environment

Life Skills: Each resident receives training in the areas of cooking, cleaning, managing a home environment, and financial planning. These skills are taught in a class format and in a practical way, as each resident is responsible for assigned chores in the home.

Trauma Counseling

Spiritual support: Bible Studies, Prayer

Case management: Individualized Plan

Program Structure

We are a Christ-centered nonprofit, so our program features proven Bible based curriculum from the Recovery Bible. Because it’s based on the Word of God, our program changes more than learned behavior. We believe It transforms hearts, thus bringing healing and freedom to hurting women, with the results being a turn around in their entire lives.

Life Skills Training – Each resident receives training in the areas of cooking, cleaning, managing a home environment, and managing a budget. These skills are taught in a class format and in a practical way, as each resident is responsible for assigned chores in the home.

Classroom Time – Each resident receives classroom teaching on forgiveness, anger management, setting boundaries, and other global principles to be applied in specific counseling sessions.

Bible Classes – Each resident participates in daily worship and Bible reading.

Outside Activities – There are many opportunities for residents to experience components of life outside the walls of the home.

Swimming (we love to swim each summer and have tons of tubes)

Hiking

Cookouts

Bowling

These are a few activities that allow residents to experience life outside of The Grace House on a small scale so they can begin preparing to make decisions without the direct guidance of staff.



Healing and Freedom Steps

Once The Women Have Been Accepted into The Grace House:

PHASE ONE: The Rest and Orientation Phase lasts about 2 weeks. This time allows them to rest and eat nutritionally to bring some balance back to their lives while we get to know them and they set short and long range goals

PHASE TWO: This is the Restore Phase, where the women will begin to work. They will receive a weekly salary will be used to give them an allowance and to start funding what they need to accomplish their goals. They will learn budgeting, personalized case management plan, medical aid, trauma therapy, job placement, and restorative services.

PHASE THREE: Once in this phase they will begin to take action on the goals that has been established by them and their case worker and continue here until they are successful.

PHASE FOUR: Once they enter this phase they will obtain full time employment, and continue implementing money management. This phase also helps them with the ability to reenter into society.

PHASE FIVE: This is the Relaunch Phase, in which the women will begin searching for stable independent housing, or create a plan to move back home.
